Kent Divorce Lawyer

By Hiring an Attorney With More Than Three Decades of Experience in Family Law, You Will Get Qualified, Aggressive and Reliable Representation in Court!

The primary things people are concerned about when they get divorced are how they are going to afford to live and what will happen to their children. As a lawyer, I work with my clients to determine their goals and expectations, working diligently to make sure they have the best possible outcome from their divorce. Going through a divorce is one of the most difficult times in a person's life. If you are entering into a divorce or any other family law dispute, I will provide you the professional and compassionate guidance and representation you will need.

I have seen many people through this tough time, and I understand what you are going through. I am not only an experienced attorney, but also a certified mediator. Couples can come to me before matters escalate to a divorce trial, and mediate their differences in a more informal setting, where they have more input and control of their outcome. This can be accomplished through various methods of alternate dispute resolution, including attending independent mediation, utilizing collaborative lawyers, or attending a structured settlement conference after your dissolution case has been filed.

If you need to make spousal support a primary concern, I will work with you to determine what your financial needs are and what you believe your soon to be ex-spouse can pay.

Renton Spousal Maintenance Attorney

I handle both contested and uncontested divorces for my clients. I stay in regular communication with you to understand and navigate your divorce, with a personal and individualized approach to ensure that your specific needs and goals are met. As part of my services, I deal with the following things:

  • Divorce/dissolution of marriage
  • Spousal support/maintenance
  • Parenting plans and child support orders
  • Asset and debt division
  • Allocation of income and debt on a temporary basis through court orders
  • Property division - complex property division the more difficult to evaluate value
  • Evaluation and investigation for hidden assets
  • High conflict cases
  • Mediation
  • Post divorce legal matters - including modifications and enforcement of court orders.

I also work with clients who are victims of domestic violence, harassment, stalking or abuse, and need to file restraining orders and no-contact protection orders to avoid further antagonism, including obtaining immediate emergency relief from the court. If you are a defendant/respondent with these orders filed against you, you and I will jointly explore and determine the most effective and cost efficient method of response or defense as may be appropriate to your individual circumstances.

Washington State offers a form of what was formerly known as alimony, now known as Spousal Maintenance or sometimes referred to as spousal support. If you need to make spousal maintenance a primary concern, I will work with you to determine your immediate and long term financial needs, measured against the ability of your spouse to meet those needs. Maintenance is determined based on a host of statutory and Washington case law specific factors that include, but are not limited to, each of the spouse's ages, health, prior and current work histories, and length of the relationship or marriage. You may qualify for either a short term or long term maintenance award, and only a seasoned family law attorney can guide you through the most persuasive and accurate methods to present these factors to a court or tribunal. In some cases, this can be the most important factor to impact your future financial stability.
